About me
Jacqueline Kroft is a singer/songwriter and composer who started playing and studying the piano from 10 years of age with private lessons including composition. After Art College ( NCIA in Victoria,BC. ) Jacqueline returned to the Toronto Royal Conservatory to get her Grade 8 in Piano and started studying jazz. She met and became friends with Bill Evans who encouraged her to sing. She was soon performing in Canada, Europe and England as a solo artist. At the same time composing and working with CBS and Warner Bros. ( Hartwig Masuch ) culminating in seven albums, 2 EPs, six singles, including a film score and some television titles. She has collaborated/worked with many talented artists such as Manne Praeker ( Nina Hagen ), her late husband Geoffrey Burgon, Bryn Terfel, John Giblin ( Simple Minds ), Stuart Elliott ( Kate Bush ), Jon Hiseman ( Colosseum ), Terry Draper ( Klaatu ) and many more.
Kroft doesn’t just play the piano—she paints with it. The harmonies are intricate, the phrasing sensitive, and the way she layers airy textures over grounded bass lines creates this rich, spacious atmosphere. It’s cinematic, sure—but also incredibly personal. Like a score to a nature documentary directed by your own memories.
It’s modern classical with emotion front and center. Think Max Richter meets Debussy on a quiet English morning
She has recently completed her English Cathedral Tour performing her new piano preludes
